President's Introduction 

Kathleen Larkin
 Shenendehowa CSD Unit 8458 Website. This website has been designed to keep our members up to date on what's happening throughout the Local. 
the officers and shop stewards are here to bring our membership even closer.  Please contact any one of us for any questions or concerns. 

Kathleen Larkin - President, is happy to be able to serve not only as your unit president, but also represents our members on the P.E.O.P.L.E.S (Public Employees Organized to Promote legislative Equality), Koda Scholarship and Labor Management Committees.  She also serves as your Grievance Representative.

With the help and support of an outstanding team, Kathleen has recently been instrumental in negotiating our 2009-2012 contract.  Looking forward, as we continue to weather trying economic times, Kathleen remains committed to protecting and preserving the strength and stability of our local and state CSEA units.  Particularly, through her continued work on the P.E.O.P.L.E.S. committee, she will continue to spread the "strength in numbers" message she so strongly believes in.  Reminding unit, local and state members how effective we can be when we work together towards common goals.

Kathleen is married with three children ranging in age from high school to pre-school.  She is currently a Special Education Aide at Chango.

 

 

Gary Lanahan - Executive Vice President  is not only representing our members, he’s extended himself to other councils and committees to build our Shen Unit 8458 to the very best it can be for our region.  Here is what our President has been involved with:
The Lead Program
– a 13 month program through our state CSEA that builds and develops conferences regarding leadership from the inside out.
The
Saratoga County Labor Council – members meet once a month and discuss labor issues.
Communications Committee
– committee through our Region IV whose duties include  discussion and development of  the quarterly newsletter which should be out November 2006!
Statewide Scholarship Committee
– committee members review over a thousand applications for a high school scholarship.
The Elementary Redistricting Committee
– committee whose duties are for the redistricting for the upcoming school year 2007-2008.  This committee presented.
The Board of Education its proposal for the new elementary boundaries in June.  For a copy of this proposal, go to shenet.org.
Labor Management Committee –
committee made up of three union members along with management that discuss labor management issues.
Facilities Committee
– entails visiting each and every school to inspect and research necessary repairs.
Veteran Committee - He plan to work toward helping to promote all right and benefits of veterans throughout this great Empire State
Local Schools Committee



Rick Allen - First Vice President, has been active representing our members as well.  Rick, is Chairperson of our Membership Committee.  Shen employees are urged to join our Shen Unit 8458.  If you are not signed up, there are applications on our bulletin boards in the staff rooms or contact Rick.  Rick is also a member of our Health and Safety Committee and Chairperson of the new Transportation Facility.  Did I mention Rick also was the Chair of our Annual Picnic?!  A big round of applause goes out to you, Rick, for a wonderful turn out and an awesome time had by all!!!  





 Michele Fazio - Vice President, has  been working in the High School East Library for the past 15 years, 8 as a Library Aide and 7 as a Computer Aide. She has been involved with CSEA as a High School Building Representative, a Grievance Representative, Shop Steward training and multiple District wide committees. As well as holding the title of Vice President, she is currently the High School East Building Representative in our Local Union.  She has two children who were educated through Shenendehowa Central Schools and has resided in Clifton Park since 1987.

Sherrie Peat -  Secretary,  Shop Steward and Grievance Rep for the middle schools.Sherrie has been with Shenendehowa since 1994 and is a Shop Steward and Grievance Rep for our middle schools. Sherrie's kids graduated from Shenendehowa and she now has two grandchildren. Her oldest son Rick (Shen's athletic trainer) has a beautiful little girl Annika who is 4 years old. Her daughter Staci lives in Wilson, NC and has an adorable little boy, Xander Joseph, born on 8/26/09. The youngest son, David, is an EMT with CPHM ambulance and is a forman for Top Cat and Bowman's Orchard. Sherri was a statistics clerk for NYS Dept of EnCon and was the CSEA rep back in the early 70's. She currently Acadia home, but can be seen working in all three middle schools.


Ed Irvine - Treasurer,   He is very proactive as a Shop Steward and Grievance Rep for our members as well as keeping our finances records sound.  Thank you for all your hard work Ed
